Michigan State University’s Tollgate Farm, a 160-acre farmstead at 12 Mile and Meadowbrook Rd in Novi, offers the public a unique opportunity to experience agriculture in an urban environment. Learn more about the animals, community gardens and agricultural demonstrations that link Tollgate the educational center to its original role as the home of one of Novi’s earliest pioneer families.

In the 2020s, so much has changed in the world of communications, newspapers in particular. Rubin, a columnist who has been a part of those changes, will talk about his time at both the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News. For 18 years Rubin also wrote the “Gil Thorpe” comic strip that still appears in newspapers today. Join us in welcoming this award-winning journalist!

MotorCities links the world’s largest collection of cultural and labor organizations, museums, archives, factories, auto collections and events to preserve the story of how tinkerers became titans and how auto and labor helped build the middle class while transforming manufacturing worldwide. As weather warms, explore Novi to see the eight MNHA signs that show the City’s historical connections to the auto industry.
